it doesn't work anymore

Alek - "Mom, I need a nacho or pizza Lunchable for my lunch tomorrow."
Me - "Q-ball...a sandwich and chips will be just fine."
Alek - "But Mom, everybody brings a pizza lunchable for their field trip lunch."
Me - "Yea, right Q. If all of your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?"
Alek, not missing a beat - "Maybe. If it was a little bridge."

That phrase sure has been around as my mother used to say it to me too.

Oh yeah, I could totally see my kids saying that! So not fair when they start thinking outside the box. :-)

Not sure if I've commented before but I just had to today as this post really made me laugh.

My Mum used to say that to me ALL THE TIME! And now I find myself saying something similar to the kids I sit for. We all turn into our Mums eventually!

Don't you hate it when you find yourself saying stuff your mother always use to. My response to my mother was always, "Well yeah, I don't want to be the last one here." That was promptly solved by a pat on the rear.
