Snowmaggedon...Day 4

Maddie's frog slippers
'What are you doing,' I asked Maddie this morning.
'I code and circle sight word,' she replied in all seriousness.
Big words for a little girl. Especially one just three years removed from a Ukrainian orphanage.
She loves to read her books. On cold, snowy mornings (like today) you can often find her sitting next to me, planted on top of the heater vent, circling word after word with her little green pencil. You're supposed to circle the words that you recoganize just by looking at them. For Maddie...there are A LOT of sight words. ;)
And most mornings she dons a lovely outfit to 'work' in. This morning it was her pink bunny pajamas and her lime green frog slippers. Add to that ensemble the purple, white, blue, green, orange and yellow headband that she made at a recent birthday party and you can make a mental image of my sweet chick-pea as we begin our FOURTH day of no school thanks to Snowmaggedon 2011.

Four days. Ugh. We're running out of things to do.
On Monday we watched TV. Lots of TV. I had an article to finish and had little time for breaking up squabbles and dishing out punishments. I was more than happy to hand them over to my built-in babysitter.
On Tuesday Dad was home. Thank goodness. Although, if you're a Facebook friend, you remember that having Shad home is not always good for creative writing. I did, however, finish the assignment - even through the cacophany of wrestling dogs, paint scrapers, cordless drills, Sponge Bob, TobyMac and vacuum cleaners.

Wednesday was Maddie's family day. I didn't get much done except hanging out with the Madster and answering at least a thousand times the question, 'Why we have family day?'
Today, I'm hoping to get something accomplished...anything. Although first on the agenda is some game time. We didn't get as much in as we had hoped to yesterday. So we're thinking a Connect 4 tourney may be in order.
But after that I'm getting down to work. Really. I am. Well, maybe after we make some brownies and watch our DVRd Little House on the Prairie marathon.
But then I'm REALLY hunkering down.

How wonderful that she's such a little bookworm and also enjoys her "work". Adorable slippers and mental image of her attire.

My daughter LOVED Little House on the Prairie and watched it all the time. She bought DVDs for her girls and they also LOVE it. Such a wholesome program.

Love the slippers!

We had 3 snow days last week + 2 teacher workdays the beginning of this week = Dying to get the kids back to school! Thank goodness we didn't get the latest storm that swept the east coast!!
